RE: AUTHORIZATION TO ATTEND NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES 1998
CONGRESS OF CITIES & EXPOSITION, DECEMBER 1-5, 1998,
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
Attached for your consideration is information regarding the
aforementioned conference. This year's seminar includes sessions on: 'The
Elected Officials' Guide to Media Relations," "Asset-based Community
Development," "Organizing and Conducting Effective Public Meetings,"
'Leading Diverse Communities," and 'Technology Basics for Local Leaders."
The city has attended these conferences in the past, and they have proven
to be of benefit to the community.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the city council authorize attendance by any
councilmember, city attorney, city manager, and staff designees.
