SUBJECT: RESOLUTION 2018-19 — PROVIDING PERMISSION TO
COUNCILMEMBER ALARCON TO BE ABSENT FROM COUNCIL
MEETINGS PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 36513
SUMMARY
At their January 9, 2018, meeting, the City Council approved Resolution 2018-03, providing
permission to Councilmember Alarcon to be absent from Council meetings pursuant to
Government Code Section 36513 until February 27,2018, to attend to a personal health issue. At
their March 9, 2018, special meeting, the City Council provided direction to staff to extend the
absence of Councilmember Alarcon from Council meetings until June 19, 2018.
California Government Code Section 36513 provides that the City Council may grant permission
to a Councilmember to be absent from Council meetings for a period longer than 60 days, which
if unexcused, would result in their office becoming vacant.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution 2018-19. providing permission for
Councilmember Alarcon to be absent from Council meetings until June 19, 2018, pursuant to
Government Code Section 36513.

RESOLUTION NO. 2018-19
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING PERMISSION TO
COUNCILMEMBER ALARCON TO BE ABSENT FROM COUNCIL
MEETINGS PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE 36513
WHEREAS, the City Council is authorized to grant permission to a councilmember in
event they are absent from regular council meetings for longer than 60 days; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Alarcon is attending to some personal medical matters and
will be absent from several upcoming council meetings;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE. AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Consistent with Government Code Section 36513, the City Council grants
Councilmember Alarcon permission to be absent from meetings through June 19, 2018.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and hereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
