SPECIAL MEETING
DECEMBER 17, 2020
The special meeting of the Rosemead Beautification Commission was called to order by
Chair Oceguera at 6:07 p.m., in the City Hall Council Chamber located at 8838 E. Valley
Boulevard, Rosemead, California.
PRESENT: Commissioners C. Liu and L. Liu; Vice -Chair Duran; and Chair Oceguera
ABSENT: Commissioner Garcia
STAFF PRESENT: City Clerk Ericka Hernandez, Deputy City Clerk/Staff Liaison
Natalie Haworth
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was led by Commissioner L. Liu
INVOCATION was led by Vice -Chair Duran
Chair Oceguera introduced Mayor Sandra Armenta and Council Member Margaret Clark, to
greet the public watching virtually.

There being no speakers, Chair Oceguera opened and closed the Public Comment period.

A. Winners for the 8th Annual Holiday Decoration Awards
Chair Oceguera stated the Holiday Decoration Awards recognizes residents and
business owners who get in the holiday spirit by decorating their properties to help
make Rosemead a little merrier and brighter!
A brief slideshow of the 17 properties that submitted for this year's Holiday
Decoration Awards was shared.

The Beautification Commission announced the winners of the 8th Annual Holiday
Decoration Awards:
• Enchanted Entryway Award — 3114 Jackson Avenue
• The Festivity Award — 9217 Rio Dell Street
• Christmas with a Twist Award — 4526 Sultana Avenue
• Celebrating Tradition Award — 8638 Olney Street
• Marie Spadaro Christmas Castle Award (Grand Prize) — 2575 N. Muscatel
Avenue
Chair Oceguera congratulated all the winners! Ms. Oceguera noted we typically
hold a reception each year following the Awards Ceremony, unfortunately due to
the pandemic, we were not able to do that this year. That being said, we are happy
to share that all participants will receive a gift to recognize your efforts during the
holiday season. City staff will be delivering the awards to the five winners after this
meeting and all other participants will be contacted by City staff on how to obtain
your thank you gift.
A special thank you to the following sponsors whose donations made the prizes
possible: Republic Services, Hawaii Supermarket, Nothing Bundt Cake, Transtech
Engineers Inc., Evergreen Landscaping, Interwest Consulting Group, and First
Transit, Inc. On behalf of the Beautification Commission and the City, thank you
to each of you for spreading holiday cheer with your festive and creative
decorations!
B. Commissioner Comments
Vice -Chair Duran thanked all who participated and shared their holiday spirit;
expressed we enjoyed seeing your beautifully decorated properties.
5. ADJOURNMENT
Chair Oceguera adjourned the special meeting at 6:24 p.m. The next regular meeting of the
Beautification Commission is scheduled to be held on January 13, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.,
in the Rosemead City Hall Council Chamber.
