During the operation, Rosemead SAO deputies along with detectives went undercover and walked throughout all retail stores as they observed several suspects concealing items. At the conclusion of the operation, arrests were made at all three retail stores. •8 suspects were arrested for felony shoplifting related charges. • 4 suspects were arrested for misdemeanor shoplifting related charges. The total amount of merchandise stolen and recovered was over $1500.00 12-07-2023 – 12-13-2023 Rosemead SAO Deputies are preparing for two upcoming operations in the city of Rosemead. A probation compliance check operation and a retail theft operation. In preparation, SAO Deputies develop an operation plan that includes a plan of action and objective for the day. Further, the Rosemead SAO deputies gather information of the layout and surroundings of the locations to strategically execute the operation. Rosemead SAO deputies then conduct surveillance on the locations for additional information. SAO team members review crime reports (SH-R-49) to identify the latest crime trends for the city of Rosemead. SAO team members assisted code enforcement with aiding homeless individuals throughout the city by offering information on shelter services and other outreach programs. SAO team members continuously moved the decoy police vehicle throughout the city of Rosemead. The decoy police vehicle has been strategically placed at various business locations throughout the city. The decoy police vehicle continues to help prevent overnight commercial burglaries. BUSINESS / COMMUNITY OUTREACH 12-12-2023 / RD 0533 Rosemead SAO contacted owner Phil from Garvey Wholesale located at 2542 San Gabriel Blvd, Rosemead. Discuss recent donations provided to Temple Sheriff Station and discussed security concerns regarding rear of property connected to possible trespassing by prowlers. 12-11-2023 / RD 0531 Rosemead SAO deputies contacted property manager Doan in charge of property located at 9143 Valley Blvd, Rosemead. Discussion included no new recent trespassing on property and discussed concerns regarding homeless population within the city. 12-11-2023 / RD 0535 Contacted Assest Protection manager Jackie of “Macy’s located at 1900 Montebello Blvd, Rosemead. Jackie manages 38 Macys retail stores in Southern California. The discussion included concerns regarding retail theft and future operations at the store to assist in combating theft. OTHER 12-07-2023 Rosemead SAO Deputy was subpoenaed to court for an incident that occurred in the city of Rosemead. The suspect faces seven counts of felony charges. Two of the felony charges include assault on a peace officer. The suspect is an active gang member from a Los Angeles criminal street gang. The suspect was ultimately held to answer and was sentenced to several years in prison. 12-10-2023/ RD 0536 While conducting a high visibility retail suppression, a Target Asset Prevention employee contacted Rosemead SAO Deputies and alerted them of a suspect concealing items inside a bag. Rosemead SAO Deputies responded within seconds and apprehended the suspect. The suspect stole over $300.00 worth of merchandise which was recovered. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody at Temple Sheriff Station. During the operation, Rosemead SAO deputies along with detectives went undercover and walked throughout Macy’s. They identified several suspects concealing store merchandise and exiting the store without paying for the selected items. At the conclusion of the operation, the following arrests were made. • 8 suspects were arrested for misdemeanor shoplifting related charges. • 2 suspects were arrested for felony shoplifting related charges. COMMUNITY OUTREACH 12-15-2023-12-18-2023/RD 0530-0536 Rosemead SAO Deputies escorted Santa and his Elfs on a sleigh through the city of Rosemead. 12-16-2023/ RD 0531 Rosemead SAO deputies participated in the luncheon and toy give away in at the Rosemead Community Recreation Center. 12-17-2023/ RD 0530-0536 Rosemead SAO Deputies passed out turkeys and other foods to families throughout the city of Rosemead. 12-20-2023 Rosemead SAO Deputies hosted a Toy Giveaway at Temple Sheriff Station with surplus toys that were collected from the toy drives in the city of Rosemead. Many residents throughout the cities that Temple Sheriff Station covers came with their families and kids and received toys. 12-20-2023 / RD 0536 Rosemead SAO Deputies hosted a “Shop-With-A-Cop" event at Target. A preselected individual was picked up by Rosemead SAO deputies at Temple Sheriff’s Station and transported to Target. At Target the individual was escorted by Detective McGruff and Rosemead Deputies who assisted with selecting toys, clothes and food for the individual. ROSEMEAD SAO WEEK IN REVIEW December 21st, 2023 – December 27th, 2023 STATISTICAL highlights THIS WEEK ARRESTS FELONY 2 MISDEMEANOR 3 TOTALS 5 LAST WEEK ARRESTS FELONY 2 MISDEMEANOR 8 TOTALS 10 OPERATIONS 12-27-2023 -RD 0530-0536 The Rosemead Special Assignment Team (SAO), and the Los Angeles County Probation Department conducted a probation compliance check operation. Numerous defendants have been placed on formal probation / AB 109 supervision and reside in the city of Rosemead. They are currently under the supervision of the Los Angeles County Probation Department, and all are subjected to search and seizure conditions. Eight probationers were selected for the operation. All probationers have extensive criminal histories. Compliance searches will be conducted to ensure that all the probationers comply with their conditions of probation. The Probation Compliance operation yielded the following results: Five suspects were arrested Suspect #1 was on probation for accessory after the fact. During the compliance check, several narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found in their possession. The suspect was arrested for several narcotic charges and was additionally charged for violating her probation conditions (1203.2 (a) PC). Suspect #2 was on probation for burglary. The suspect was arrested for an outstanding warrant for grand theft. Suspect #3 was on probation for grand theft auto. During the compliance check a loaded firearm was recovered along with several narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested for several gun related charges and narcotics. Suspect #4 was arrested along with suspect #3 for the same charges. Suspect # 5 was on probation for burglary. The suspect was arrested for an outstanding warrant for a D.U.I. All other probationers were found in compliance with their probation terms. 12-22-2023 Rosemead SAO Deputies along with our Narcotics Unit, conducted a search warrant on an illegal marijuana grow house outside the city of Rosemead. The suspects running the grow house has ties to several marijuana grow houses in the city of Rosemead. 12-21-2023 to 12-27-2023 Rosemead SAO Deputies along with our Major Crime Bureau are in preparation for an upcoming retail theft operation in the city of Rosemead. ROSEMEAD SAO WEEK IN REVIEW December 28th, 2023 – January 3rd, 2024 STATISTICAL highlights THIS WEEK ARRESTS FELONY 5 MISDEMEANOR 10 TOTALS 15 LAST WEEK ARRESTS FELONY 2 MISDEMEANOR 3 TOTALS 5 OPERATIONS 12-29-2023 -RD 0535 On Friday, 12-29-2023, between the hours of 1200-0000 hours, the Temple Station-Rosemead Special Assignment Team in conjunction with Major Crimes Bureau conducted an organized retail theft suppression operation in the city of Rosemead. The suppression focused on identifying, detaining and arresting person(s) stealing and or co-conspirators in Rosemead. 15 individuals were identified and arrested for theft or drug related crimes. Two individuals were detained by Asset Protection Officers. All arrestees were either cited out in the field or booked at the Temple Station jail. As a result of the operation, ten suspects were arrested: Suspect #1 was arrested for misdemeanor shoplifting 459.5(a) PC. Walmart recovered $88.04 worth of merchandise (923-13234-0533-181). Suspect #2 was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance for sales 11378(a) HS and Felony transportation of controlled substance for sales 11379(a) HS. Suspect #2 was the driver for Suspect #1 Suspects #3 was arrested for misdemeanor shoplifting 459.5(a) PC. Walmart recovered $336.75 worth of merchandise. Suspect #4 was arrested for misdemeanor shoplifting 459.5(a) PC. Suspect #4 was arrested with Suspect #3 Suspect #5 was arrested for misdemeanor shoplifting 459.5(a) PC. Walmart recovered $19.47 worth of merchandise. Suspect #6 was arrested for shoplifting misdemeanor 459.5(a) PC and was wanted for a $5,000 misdemeanor vandalism 594(a) PC warrant. Walmart recovered $119.40 worth of merchandise. Suspect #7 was arrested for misdemeanor shoplifting 459.5(a) PC. Walmart recovered $283.75 worth of merchandise. Suspect #8 was arrested for shoplifting misdemeanor 459.5(a) PC. Walmart recovered $103.88 worth of merchandise. Suspect #9 was arrested for shoplifting misdemeanor 459.5(a) PC. Walmart recovered $13.01 worth of merchandise. Suspect #10 and Suspect #11 were arrested for shoplifting misdemeanor 459.5(a) PC. Walmart recovered $75.54 worth of merchandise. Suspect #12 was arrested for shoplifting misdemeanor 459.5(a) PC. Walmart recovered $131.55 worth of merchandise. Suspect #13 and Suspect #14 were arrested for felony Organized Retail Theft 490.4(a) PC. Walmart recovered $134.01 worth of merchandise. Suspect #15 was arrested for shoplifting misdemeanor 459.5(a) PC. Walmart recovered $187.30 worth of merchandise. Rosemead SAO Deputies assisted Asset Protection Officers in recovering an additional $395.01. At the conclusion of the operation, the Rosemead SAO team recovered a total of $1,887.71 worth of stolen merchandise for Walmart. OTHER 01/03/2024 Rosemead SAO Deputies were subpoenaed for a child abuse case that occurred in the city of Rosemead. During a probation compliance check, Rosemead SAO Deputies arrested two individuals for child abuse. Both individuals were on probation for burglary. Both individuals were held to answer for child abuse. Rosemead SAO Deputies along with LA CADA, LASD Host, LAHSA and Rosemead Code Enforcement are teaming up to contact multiple homeless residents throughout the city of Rosemead to offer services. Rosemead SAO Deputies along with LASD MCB will be conducting another multi-retail theft operation in the city of Rosemead. The operation will be focusing on Target, Ross, Ulta and T-Mobile retail stores. Rosemead SAO Deputies had meetings with all assisting units to discuss plans for the upcoming operations. Rosemead SAO Deputies contacted managers from Target, Ross, Ulta and T-Mobile to discuss crime trends, gather data, and plans for the upcoming operation. Rosemead SAO Deputies met with Garvey School District administrators to discuss school safety plans, coordinate a future emergency evacuation drill as well as improve the safety around school drop off zones. BUSINESS OUTREACH 01-04-2024 – 01-10-2024 / RD 0536 Rosemead SAO Deputies contacted managers from Target, Ross, Ulta and T-Mobile to discuss crime trends, gather data, and plans for the upcoming operation. 01-010-2024 / RD 0531 Rosemead SAO Deputies communicated with the manager of the new open restaurant Prince Dumpling. Rosemead SAO Deputies discussed crime trends and homeless residents' issues. Rosemead SAO Deputies offered extra patrol checks around the business. MOTOR 01-04-2024 – 01-10-2024 / RD 0530-0536 38 cites issued 4 warnings Rosemead Motor Deputy focused on: Garvey Intermediate School, Rosemead High School and Mildred Elementary School.
