The two budget amendment items are: Increase estimated COPS grant revenue in the General Fund in the amount of $110,430 (Staff Report approved April 3, 2008) and, Appropriate $145,000 in the Air Quality Management District Fund ("AQMD") budget for the purchase of four hybrid vehicles. Staff Recommendation Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached budget amendment resolution No. 2008-38. ANALYSIS State funded COPS grant revenue must be approved annually by City Council at a public meeting.' Before the Council can approve the grant, the State must appropriate grant expenditures to local agencies in the State budget and determine the amount to be apportioned' to each local agency. The amount to be apportioned usually isn't determined until, September, therefore, the City's COPS grant proceeds is not included in the original City budget document. With all prerequisites being met, staff is requesting approval of the attached resolution increasing the COPS grant estimated revenue account in the General Fund. I At the May 13,'2008 City Council meeting the purchase of four new hybrid vehicles, using AQMD Fund unreserved, undesignated fund balance money was approved by the City Council. The attached resolution will formally appropriate those funds for the purchase of the ifour vehicles. APPROVED FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA: 6.
